close up
This series of works are questioning the role of the artist, the role of the choices he/she makes and how these choices may affect the way that the artwork will be perceived by the viewer.
In order to do so I used artworks from great masters of the past as a tool to compose a new image.
Close up-blurred pictures taken from the actual artworks of Van Gogh, Monet, Seurat and Signac, at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow are presented in one composition with the whole artwork or part of it.
Both images are the original artwork, but in the close ups this is not obvious; the close ups present pure aesthetic values of colours and forms. The comparison of those to the images of the recognisable artworks, creates a dialogue of ambitious perception.
The text that forms in the works questions my role in this creative management of well-known imagery and the importance of the artistic choices in the creative process.
